Understanding the New Support at Home Program

The Australian Government is introducing a significant reform to aged care services with the new Support at Home program, set to launch in July 2025. This comprehensive program will replace the existing Home Care Packages and Short-Term Restorative Care Programme.
What is Support at Home?
Support at Home is designed to help older Australians live independently in their own homes for as long as possible. The program provides a more flexible and responsive approach to aged care, with funding directly tied to individual needs assessments.
Key Changes from Home Care Packages
Unlike the current system of four package levels, Support at Home will offer more granular funding levels based on your assessed needs. This means you'll receive funding that more precisely matches your requirements.
Types of Support Available
- Independence: Everyday living tasks and personal care
- Everyday Living: Domestic assistance and home maintenance
- Clinical Care: Nursing and allied health services
- Assistive Technology: Equipment and home modifications
